yup it seemed to have dissapeared ..... guess it was cos it wasnt used enough and took up space and maintainence time

I'm guessing this discussion section replaces the chat

There were problems with it and not enough people used it.

Chat might come back one day, maybe, but for now we are busy on other projects.

Me too? Good way of getting to know people. Does it cost extra to have it on site? i.e. is it a cost driven decision?

Not just the cost, but more the time to maintain and monitor it... the fact remains that the chat rooms weren't widely used by the majority of the subscribers.

They wernt widely used but there was a number regulars in them and now we miss them. For us who ejoyed the chatroom we are now forced to look elsewhere

so comeon NZPERSONAL ADMIN can you answer all our questions as to why chat got taken and WHEN it is coming back pretty please

There was a response on one of the other groups where webby responded that in all the changes that are happening the chat room was taking maintainence time they didnt have,and that they plan later to restore chat to the site.

One of the problems I see, was that it was very little used, there was some chatters but even I went to look in a few times and no-one was ever there and when the room was "busy" there was only about 3-4 people in there and this you would agree wouldnt justify the time and work in maintaining it. I used to (on other sites) run my own chat rooms and they are very time consuming, which was why I closed mine down as I couldnt give them the justice they deserved.

In the interum you could get the forums humming, I know its not the same (being a chat room fan as well) but in another site I belong to the forums rock ... why ... cos there are a lot of people that post on it in almost every imaginable topic.

We dont mind what you post on the forums as long as its not illegal, and posting personal details or abusive comments is one of the main things I will jump on, but a one off 'error' wont get you booted out by me, a repeat of the error will lol and if youre stepping over the line, about all I will do is leave a message to let you know and if needed edit your post.
So hang in there, im sure when webby has finished tweaking the site and ironing out the bugs then we will see a new improved chat room ... and like you guys, Im hoping its sooner rather than later.

others and discuss the issues of the day.

I GUESS THOSE PPL DOING MAINTAINANCE SEE IT DIFFERENTLY EVEN IF IT DONT COME BACK ILL STILL PAY MY SUBS, I HAVE SOME VERY NICE FRIENDS HERE,

I enjoy chatting in a chatroom over discussionboards or emails, but the room was often not very full.

I have found chatrooms off other sites have been good for connecting with people and getting to know them - you get out what you put in.

Generally, I want to say I think admin have done a great job with the revamp.
