Clobbered
Discussion - started by Rustynutz, posted on 20-Jul-24 3:22AM
Can someone please explain the criteria for getting a comment clobbered, a lot the threads get walloped and it sometimes wrecks the continuity of the thread, just a curious observation

Hi there, here are those rules:
Keep it friendly!
No bitching or arguing. NO advertising, soliciting or promoting services, and no booty-call posts. No trolling, antagonising, or winding up of other members. NO phone numbers or any other external contact details!
If you experience any abuse from others, then please contact the group managers or report a complaint to admin.

Also people have the choice to remove their own posts. It's not personal so when group managers remove posts it is based on the aforementioned criteria.

There was a discussion about removing 'hook up posts in the main discussion'months ago. I hope that helps to clarify for you.

Thanks for that explanation Cheekies!
And yet there is still sooooo much bitching and arguing & antagonism that slips through the cracks (and admittedly part of me gets a thrill reading the back and forth volleys between smart-asses)

Much appreciated, it's good to know the ground rule.

Hey Cheekies! In essence, I completely agree with this, though the list is long. There is also a history behind these decisions which I understand.

The difficulty if making the call between what is bitching and what is good, healthy debate (which should be encouraged in order to open one’s field of vision) can’t be easy. Its sometimes difficult to evaluated, healthy debate which often degrades to name calling - look at the US and their leaders.
Managers also have their own opinion and point of view. This too can slant or affect the discussion simply by clobbering a comment - someone mentions how it interferes with the flow.
Personally, as soon as a discussion starts hitting the mud - as so often happens with social media these days - I believe it needs to be binned. There’s enough negativity without that.
So, it’s a bit of a balancing act for you guys.

Adding to this since it happened in the "short videos" thread, don't post links off-site.
It falls under the "no promoting services" rule, even if unintentionally, but it's generally probably a good idea for safety reasons, sometimes you don't know where you'll end up, especially if it's a small URL.

You do realise this is a private site, you're not in public and freespeech laws don't apply here?

Not at all it just seems a little crazy when the next conversation is very sexual and a little kinky how does that conversation even begin

Yes I do but you only have to scroll through the groups to see that the site is a little kinky?

There's a big difference between kinky and breaking the rules.
