Id rather have definite proof of who Jack the Ripper was, instead of jacking to your parents.

Understanding how a great unsolved crime occurred would be interesting... like JFK. But to get definite proof of who Jack the Ripper was... wouldn't you have to watch him at work? I don't think I could do that, especially if (as a silent observer) I was unable to use that knowledge for good. He did some terrible things.

Not neccesary:
we know where and when the victims were killed.
Just stake out those locations and leave before it gets stabby.

And let's face it the British authorities weren't to concerned about it because he was was actually murdering tax evaders and the people dieing of STD related diseases nearly halved. But seriously it is believed that jack the ripper was an American guy who the authorities in America around that time was a suspected of murdering several people in one of the major Port Cities in America and at the time of the murders in white chapel he was in London and in that area because his job was on a ship that was in port in London at the time and it transported live stock from America to England and this guys job was head slaughter man and he took care of slaughtering and butchering any sick or wounded animals during the trip. So choose another moment in history.
